"At sunset we had rowed ashore from our anchorage following a ferocious windstorm to find the sand sculpted into myriad fantastic shapes.

"The lowering sun cast steely blue shadows from transformed twigs and grasses. Edging along this entwined network were two young Starlings not yet able to fly.

"I'm attempting to capture that moment between day and night with the use of cold blue steel and warm red bronze, separated by the dark mystery of new life. This window of time is elevated to a place of honor with a white circle of stone. Thus, a magic moment is preserved on a foundation of wholeness."
